A few of the highlights include Schulz’s recreated studio, an exhibit by Christo that depicts a wrapped Snoopy’s doghouse, and a mural of original Schulz art he drew for his daughter’s room in Colorado Springs.Ĭheck the theater schedule and plan on watching at least one of the 30-60-minute shows. The permanent collection is located on the first and second floors. Also on the property is the Warm Puppy Café and the Redwood Empire Ice Rink. The museum features permanent exhibits, changing special exhibits, and a theater. When you enter the Great Hall, there are two art installations by Japanese artist Yoshiteru Otani- a 3.5-ton wood sculpture depicting the evolution of Snoopy and a 22-foot-high ceramic mural made of 3,588 Peanuts strips that combine to form the image of Lucy van Pelt holding the football for Charlie Brown.
The museum does a wonderful job of relating Schulz’s personal experiences with the development and evolution of the Peanuts characters.ĭid you Know? Woodstock was named after the three-day Music Festival in Bethel Woods, New York.
The cartoon ran for almost 50 years, totaling nearly 18,000 strips. Peanuts was published daily in over 2,500 papers in 75 countries in 21 languages. Schulz is widely regarded as one of the most influential cartoonists of all time. The museum opened in Augin Santa Rosa, California and is home to the largest collection of Peanuts artwork in the world. Schulz Museum and Research Center is a must-see for any Snoopy and Charlie Brown lover.
